Preschool Workshops

Our preschool workshops offer hands-on learning experiences for kids ages 3-6. Each one is an age-appropriate exploration of a single science topic, like air, animals, weather, and worms. Kids enjoy engaging demos, perform simple experiments, and discover how science helps us understand our world.

James visited our school today and the children absolutely loved his workshop on forces. He kept them entertained, highly amused and engaged for the whole hour. The workshop sparked lots of interest in my year six class and provoked lots of understanding and thinking. I would highly recommend Mad Science! Thanks very much!

FAQ

Does everyone always take something home from a workshop?

That is your choice! A take-home activity is part of every program. Most of the time, the item is built during the workshop. In some programs, the activity requires no assembly and will be given to the children at the end of the workshop. Many topics have a no take home discount.

+

How long in advance do I need to book?

We recommend 4-6 weeks before your event date. If you are going to be using our Teacher Resource Guide to complement the program, allow a little extra time to go over the pre-events with your class before the actual workshop.

+

For what ages are Mad Science workshops appropriate?

Our workshops are appropriate for children between ages 3-6 for preschool workshops and ages 5-12 for elementary-level workshops. In-Class Field Trips are grade specific.

+

Where are the workshops held?

Wherever your kids are! We come to you, whether it's your classroom, your library, you child development center, a local park, or your home.

+

What kind of space do you need?

We need enough space for kids to work comfortably without being disturbed. Since many activities are done as small groups, tables or floor space tends to work better than desks. Depending on the topic being offered, we may also need access to water, electricity, or a room that can be darkened.

+

Do you conduct workshops in my area?

Mad Science covers the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area. A travel charge may apply outside of these areas.
