DISCOVER THE NASA ACADEMY OF FUTURE SPACE EXPLORERS! Take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond! Explore planets, moons and other space phenomena in our solar system. Discover the difficulties of space travel, the challenges of living in space and try assembling a satellite while training to be an astronaut. Build exciting space travel take homes like rockets and shuttle copters, and see a launch. Students will have lots of projects to make and to take home, plus - Mad Science is the ONLY organization licensed to use these activities for summer camps and school programs. Planets and Moons
Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in this “mad” planetary tour! Learn how the planets stack up in terms of terrain, atmosphere, and size! How do they differ from our own planet, and how are they the similar? Find out the answers to this question and more!
Atmosphere and Beyond
Why do stars twinkle? How are rainbows formed? In this lab, young scientists are on a mission to explore the atmosphere on Earth, and beyond! Travel to the end of the rainbow and make a sunset! Mix up various planetary atmospheres, one molecule at a time! Learn about the various gases that make up our atmosphere, and discover how stars would look in space and see what makes them twinkle!
Probe the mysteries of meteors and bounce around satellite light in this phenomenal program on space events! Learn about comets, craters, and other eerie cosmic events!
Sun and Stars
This stellar program is your ticket to the stars! Watch star dust burn, and journey through a soapy galaxy as you investigate the life cycle of stars!
This is your chance to be a rocket scientist! Investigate the four forces of flight with the help of a Unique Flying Object! Explore the science involved in rocket construction!
Learn what it takes to be a true globetrotter! Race a balloon rocket and design your own car engine as you learn about thrust. Learn about the various parts of a rocket and the role they play in flight, then see the principles of propulsion at work in a real rocket launch!
In this lab, young scientists will explore the technology designed for outer space! Steer a laser beam through a laser maze, find hidden mountains using the principles of radar technology, and discover everyday objects originally designed for use in space!
Living in Space
Live the life of an astronaut as you suit up for space flight! Using team-building skills, students will navigate through their very own space mission. Then, it's time to explore life in outer space! Find out how much you would weigh if you lived on Pluto and how old you would be if you lived on Saturn! Then, build a model space station of your own!
Mad Science Machines:
Peek into a class to watch elementary-age engineers hard at work with pulleys and levers. They will design, problem-solve, and have a whole lot of fun! Students will even take home a cool Mad Science Machine that they build themselves!
Children conduct hands-on experiments to understand how and why weather occurs. They find out that seasons change as the Earth tilts toward and away from the sun. Children learn that air affects weather. They perform experiments to prove that air has mass and takes up space. After learning that water in the air affects the weather, children recreate the water cycle and mimic a rain cloud. They try out meteorology measurement tools and act like weather reporters. Children learn that ultraviolet light can cause sunburns. They make and take home a colorchanging ultraviolet light detector.
Children are introduced to the science of geology. They examine three different rock types and learn how and where they formed. Children investigate tectonic plates and learn how their movements cause stress on the Earth. They discover that these movements can cause mountains to form, earthquakes to occur, and volcanoes to erupt. The children make and take home a sedimentator. It reinforces the concept of sedimentary rock formation learned in class.
Stunt Planes & Gliders
The Wright Brothers would be proud as we follow in their footsteps and learn the fundamental principles of flight. Build a “football” glider, control surfaces and your very own loop-flying stunt plane. You’ll be a Top Gun after this class!
